The England manager Questions Home Crowd Support Following Comfortable Win Over Wales.

Thomas Tuchel voiced his disappointment that the England team did not receive stronger backing from the home crowd during their impressive 3-0 friendly victory on Thursday night.

The manager was satisfied to see his side continue their strong performance, with goals from Rogers, Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the opening quarter effectively ending the game. Yet, he was not content with the energy at the iconic venue.

“We had limited sessions to get ready against a drilled team and we excelled,” the coach remarked. “We could have been five goals ahead at the break. We missed the fourth and fifth goals. There was little noise. There was no support from the stands. Our team gave their all to win.”

“How much more can you provide in 20 minutes? We prevented them get away. When you only hear just the Welsh supporters for half an hour, it’s regrettable because the squad earned better encouragement today.”

“I maintain this statement. We cannot do more than being three goals up in a rivalry match. I would have wished for a little more backing in phases where it gets difficult.”

“After halftime, to support us, there was a bit too much support for Wales. It could have helped us to recharge, but that’s football and so be it.”

Selection Choices Justified by Display

Apart from potentially starting a dispute among supporters, the manager also created controversy by leaving out Bellingham and Foden from his team selection. Yet the choice was justified by Morgan Rogers excelling in the attacking midfield role and netting his maiden goal for his country.

“He plays his game,” Tuchel said. “He operates as an attacking midfielder and he is vying for his place.”

Bellamy Seeks Lessons from Defeat

The Wales manager expressed hope that his team, who face Belgium in a key World Cup qualifier on next week, improve after their disappointing performance in the opening period.

“This is why I wanted this game,” the manager said. “I need to see our current level. What are our ambitions? Who do we want to be? This performance fills me with motivation.”

Injury Concern for Striker

Ollie Watkins was withdrawn at the break after hitting a post and will be a doubt when the national team face Latvia in the Latvian capital in a World Cup qualifying match on next week.
